Bariatric surgery

The Bariatric Surgery Department provides comprehensive care for obese patients, aiming to help them lose weight in a safe and effective manner, and improve their overall health status. The department includes a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, nutritionists, endocrinologists, and psychologists.

Major surgeries performed by the department:

Sleeve Gastrectomy:
A large portion of the stomach is removed to reduce its size, which reduces appetite and contributes to weight loss.

Gastric Bypass:
It changes the way food passes, creating a small pouch in the stomach and connecting it directly to the small intestine, minimizing absorption and calories.

Mini Gastric Bypass:
A procedure similar to traditional route conversion but with less complicated steps.

Gastric Banding:
Wear an adjustable ring around the upper stomach to minimize the amount of food consumed.

Gastric balloon:
Used as a temporary option, a balloon is placed inside the stomach to take up space, reducing the sensation of hunger.

Objectives of the department:

Improving patients' quality of life.

Treating diseases associated with obesity such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and sleep apnea.

Reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Eligibility requirements:

Body mass index (BMI) more than 40, or more than 35 with chronic diseases.
